How To Properly Answer The Question: “so, what do you eat?”

Okay, let’s address one of the most common questions that a vegan is asked by meat-eaters…”So what do you eat?”  As a vegan, it will be tough to resist a condescending answer such as “Um, everything except rotting animal carcass.”  However, you will not be doing any good with an answer like that.  Believe it or not, how you respond to this question could be enough to plant the seed of curiosity in a potential vegan. An Open Mind

“Stay open minded.”  Three simple words that could possibly be the trick to finding enlightenment.  Think of all the possibilities this world has to offer, if only we are open to it.  We’re born open minded…like a blank canvas, ready to be filled in with the colors, textures, and patterns that our journey will bring.   But what open-mind veganhappens when the canvas fills up?  After 30 years of living, does our canvas have space left for more?  I say yes…stay open minded.  Flip the canvas over and begin to fill up the back.  When that’s used up, if you’re still alive, paint on the edges!

The point is, never stop seeking knowledge.  Of course, the desire to learn new things means the possibility of having to admit when you’ve been wrong.  In order to eliminate meat and dairy, I had to unlearn half a lifetime of dietary knowledge.  I had to unlearn the “food pyramid.”  I had to acknowledge that cow’s milk (the very thing vegan food pyramidI was taught would make my bones stronger) is not even meant to be consumed by my own species.  It’s a hard pill to swallow…no pun intended.

My blogs are about becoming vegan.  The challenges you’ll face, the rewards you’ll reap, and everything in between.  My blogs are meant for those who are already aware of the atrocities forced upon the animals of this planet, and who wish to no longer be a part of the problem…but maybe need some help getting started.

Veganism is not a diet, it’s a lifestyle.  It’s simply a choice to live compassionately…for the good of our planet and for the good of our health!  Need advice?  Email Me.  I’d love to hear about your journey!
